Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls is a horror action adventure spin-off game in the Danganronpa series of visual novel games, taking place between the events of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Unlike the visual novel gameplay of the previous games, Ultra Despair Girls is a third-person adventure game with horror elements, in which players control Komaru Naegi as she tries to survive in a city overrun by Monokuma robots.

Brief outline of the game Visual novel / adventure. The player controls Komaru Naegi, who has spent the past year locked inside an apartment. She is suddenly forced to flee after being attacked by deadly Monokuma robots controlled by a group of murderous children seeking to wipe out all adults. Content specific issues There are scenes of realistic violence early in the game, in which the murderous teddy bear robots are seen on a rampage through a city. There are many dead/barely conscious people strewn around and one bear is seen sitting on a human, pummelling them repeatedly. There are infrequent uses of the words ‘fuck’ and ‘motherfucking’, though milder swearwords are more frequent, such as ‘bitch’, ‘ass’, ‘shit’ and ‘bastard’. Other issues Gameplay violence is mostly non-realistic with minimal injury to playable characters. The game also features frequent strong sexual innuendo and salacious dialogue. In one scene, a woman is strapped to a board and ‘motivated’ as mechanical hands touch her in various places, including her crotch and chest.
